Opinions are a Dangerous thing: Art StylesThis isn't about narking on anyone no, infact this is just my own muses really! You could say this is a journal for ENCOURAGEMENT! *SHINES*
I find sticking to one style restrictive if you are a beginning/moderate artist! (even professionals I might say! though I can't speak for everyone)
Having a distinctive look on how your art is done and produced is understandable and its a desire to appear unique to the point some one can just SEE your work and instantly think 'Oh! that's Ten-days!' or something along the line. However, when you are trying to find who you are and what kind of art you are to produce, I recommend trying, well, a lot of different things! Different styles, mixing styles, different colouring techinque, brushes, tools, shading. Don't feel dependant on what you are already doing and don't feel pressured by people just for trying new things!
Push out of your comfort zone. Can't draw hands? don't avoid it! draw the heck out of them! (how else are you going to learn?)

I think life is good.

1. Cancer--I only got a week and a half more radiation. It's really not been as bad as I thought it might be. I feel like I'm gonna puke a lot but I almost never do.

Coffin' but not dead.

2. comic books--

I haven't read it but that new spider man as an old dude book looks cool.

The Dammed from Oni is good solid demon noir comics.

I got the new Empowered Adam Warren book and It's so rad to see that dude making comix again. It breaks my heart when a good writer artist
becomes just a writer. I'm so glad he's back . Going from Dirty pair to gen 13 would be like trying to listen to a mase song after you just heard a whole Public enemy album. serious. God i hope he does more DP.

I just wrote a huge tirade on dudes I hate in comix. Then deleted it.
Things are actually looking pretty good in comix so I'm going to ignore the crap and talk about the gold.

Man, there's some books on the way out that I've read that make me so happy to be a comic reader.

Marian Churchlands Beast book that I'm lettering is really what I expect from the best of french comics in the 80's.

I read that Drew Hayes died wich sucks, I was so into his early Poison elves books when I was a kid. I stopped reading around the time it went to Sirus. but he was good and that's too bad.

3. Work.

King city 2 is a skelliton of a book now. I know how it ends and how it starts but there's lots in the middle to do.
I wish it didn't have to end so soon. 2 TP books is big but the city is bigger.

Multiple Warhedz. is puttering along. im stilll somewhere in the middle of it.

SOS. my 14 page color thing that I haven't started coloring. I was stuck on the title page then in he hospital I saw a microsoft ad I'm gonna rip off. --gold.

So uh i live in NZ and its like impossible to find most comics here, but i got a copy of King City at the first con to ever come to my city and its FUCKING AWESOME MAN! you're brilliant! it was like the second best thing of the day, that comic. so yeah, your comic fucking rocks my socks. just had to say that

Glad to hear the cancer treatment is going well, my friend. Hopefully it's not something I'll have to go through as well, but we'll just hafta wait and see.

Does the radiation cut into your comic-making time much? I imagine it would, especially with the nausea.

I'm not sure if radiation will be necessary at this point. I still need to find time to take off from work to get myself checked out. Fortunately, I have company health insurance. Not sure if I'm gonna do that while I'm still living in WV, though; I may wait 'til I move back to MD. It's only about a month and a half away.

I'll let you know as I find out more.
