Multiple warhedz page 28 (oni press --july)
I'm having to learn how to draw wolves and
fight scenes better for this book. It's hard.
I've been looking at a lot of Elfquest and Berserk.
such good books.

It's amazing the gap between good comix and bad.
like how much work and thought or how little you can put into a page.

Lately the only way I can work is to focus on just the page
or even the panel in front of me and try not to freak out at how much work there still is to do.

I dig what you're doing with the graphic treatment of onomotopoeia (the smoky "wst" is great). Miura does some of that in Berserk, but for proper appreciation of the potential I go to Oh! Great's Air Gear (Del Rey).

Of course, it's easier to graphically treat a fundamentally iconographic alphabet like the katakana. But there's ways n' means, even for an ugly alphabet like the roman.

Dave Sim does it nice too... as does Howarth (the "ow" in that final panel screams Howarth). This is why I like hand-lettering, 'cause digital rarely carries that level of designer quality.

That's so hardcore.

I'm trying to get some new pages made this week for a new portfolio, first time in about 2+ years I've actually sat down and gone 'right...comics!'.

I don't remember it being this hard. I used to be totally confident in my ability to do shitty pages and think they were the hotfire...now it seems my increased age stops me from even putting the pencil to the paper :/

I only hate that you never know if you're making good or bad comics until after its all finished.
Or at least, that's the problem that I find myself facing a lot.
But this looks good. I love the first panel composition

So true, there's a thin line between good and bad comics. For what I've seen you're on the good side! Nice blood splatter, and cutting the action itself (ripping the paw off) gives the scene a dramatic feel.
Good work.
